The Kilimanjaro Music Awards took place a couple of months ago and the winner of the “Best Hip Hop Song” went to Chidi Benz, with his street anthem “Ngoma Itambae (Dar Stand Up)”.Chidi Benz received his award from American rap artist Chingy.

The song is not new but has been an anthem in Tanzania for a while now. The first time I heard the song, I knew it had something unique to it and the way he delivers his rhymes plus messages is so easy doesnt sound forced at all.

Chidi Benz represents that “street edgy” music and his musical catalog can attest to it, with various artists enlisting him to drop 16’s on thier songs for that street feel.

He has street anthems like “King Kong”,  “Chidi Benz”, and radio songs like “Bado Umenuna” Featuring Marlaw , “Naitwa Nani” with K-Lynn and many more. He’s also one of the few artists who really blend their punchlines well while switching back and forth from Swahili to English while still maintaining the song flow.

He is currently in Kenya working on different projects with Nonini and P-unit. He was kind enough to hook us up with two of his latest hits SIO NGUVU YA MGANGA and CHAGUO LANGU which is a dedication to all his fans. Chidi Benz ako Juu Tuu Sana!
